Growing potatoes in Idaho can be a year-round process you want to be. This is definitely an option for anyone in the area and there are some challenges though. For one the soil is very rich in volcanic ash which is not necessarily bad but, there does need to be the perfect balance for fertilizer and elemental sulfur as well. Also the calendar plays a major part, there are certain times three don’t want to start planting the seeds usually recommended about five days prior to the last frost in your area. It is an interesting vegetable in that if they become frosted they come back with the other bolts and tubers attached which are below the surface or deeper in the ground. This does affect the size of the potatoes as well. Now when it comes to being involved with organic agriculture for potatoes, there is the damage dangers of the wire were.
