Most people say that time goes so fast, and that is not an understatement. There always is time during childhood and being a young adult, that before you know it you’re looking back. Indiana native Odell Jeremiah Cheiffetz moved to the Richmond area in northern California. He had taken up a position with the Union Pacific Railroad after being honorably discharged for six years in the Navy. He met his wife Karen Hopkins, who worked in hospice care and was attending college to attain nursing certification. Odell married Karen and moved Santa Cruz, California after accepting a position with Caltrans constructing barriers in the mountains of Santa Cruz. They had their first child Seth Cheiffetz in 1958.
In 1961 Odell and Karen Cheiffetz had purchased their first home in Santa Cruz. Six months later Aaron Cheiffetz was born 0n October 21, 1961. It was a comfortable neighborhood and seemed the perfect move for the family. Growing up both boys had naturally incurred different interests, they both had a curiosity with their father’s toolshed in particular. When their father was off on the weekends, he would work on the side as a contractor with his mini bulldozer/backhoe in certain areas around their suburb. Both boys would usually go on his business trips. Usually they were up in the mountain areas where they would practice using bow and arrows, slingshots and collect small creatures and bugs. As they got older, their father would let them participate assisting him. Seth seem to be very interested in his father’s welding skills, and Aaron had already learned how to use a backhoe and bulldozer by the time he was 14.
